Why Shine When You Can Glow? (Ole Henriksen Review)

One of my favorite quotes is “If it ain’t free, it ain’t me.” Which is why I love receiving free products from Influenster and great brands.

My skin has always been a hassle. From puberty to motherhood, I have only had rare moments of a “good skin day.” I’m 26 and acne still exists in my everyday life. The complimentary products I received included a three-step facial regimen that was fit for my combination/oily skin.

From day 1, I was already seeing and feeling results.

This three step program includes:

Ole Henriksen Find Your Balance™ Oil Control Cleanser
Find Your Balance™ Oil Control Cleanser
Ole Henriksen Balancing Force™ Oil Control Toner
Balancing Force™ Oil Control Toner
Ole HenriksenCounter Balance™ Oil Control Hydrator

Ole HenriksenCounter Balance™ Oil Control Hydrator By Ole Henriksen

This particular system focuses on oil control. I can honestly say that I have not had any excess grease on my face or an oil feeling since using these products. However, my #GLOW  is very real and I haven’t had to use any concealer or foundation in my morning routine. That’s how fast these products worked on helping clear up my skin.

You can guarantee that I will be buying these products once my free #Influenster VoxBox products are finished. You can find these products at Sephora or Ole Henriksen’s website.

If you’re a fellow #Influenster , comment and let me know how you feel about this #VoxBox and the products! If you have already tried these products, I would also love to hear your story and see before and after pictures.

Tranformation Tuesdays ft. BECCA Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Anastasia, and more!

Disclaimer: I know today is Wednesday…err–Thursday, but leave me alone, I originally drafted this Tuesday before I spent my evening with $2 Margaritas and $1 tacos. Charge it to my head, not my heart.

I took myself from ashy to semi-ashy, y’all. I would have said “ashy to classy” but I didn’t have lash glue and felt like my beat face was incomplete. Baby steps. If you read my previous blog about BECCA cosmetics, you’ll see that it is one of my favorite foundations for extended wear. Since I had already cut my hair, I decided that I also wanted to play around with my new look and play in my makeup.

  • Brow This Way brow kit by RIMMEL London (for subtle smoky eye)

(L to R) Anastasia Brow Kit, the brushes are in order of use, and the Brow This Way brow kit.

For my brushes, I used 6 brushes from the Bamboo Brush Set by My MakeUp Brush Set. They’re dupes, but they work so well.

Told y’all I was looking ashy! (Before application)

This was after my eyebrow (brush 1 to shape after fill) and foundation application (brush 2), and after I used brush 3 to pretend that I knew how to contour. It really is like art. I used brush 4 to dab/blend in the lighter concealers, then used it to blend in the darker color along my cheekbone. I then used brush 5 to sharpen the line under my cheekbone for a sharper/neater look.

And voila! Here is the finished look. I used brush 6 to apply two neutral eyeshadows to bring out a little glow around my eyes! The lip color is from the new Urban Decay Vice line, called Gubby. I love it! And it lasted for the rest of my night. This was my most successful attempt at applying all over makeup and I was so proud to be able to document and share my beauty journey with you all! Hope you like it!

Summer Solstice Hair! (NEW COLOR ALERT!)

Hey all!

So Orlando hosts one of the biggest beauty expos in the world, right? And the stars graciously set me up to be able to be a part of this show as a Model for six years straight! But that’s not the coolest part! The coolest part is that these last four years, I’ve gotten to do shows for one of the coolest hair families, EVER! MATRIX!

Back in January, MATRIX hosted their DESTINATION educational convention and I had two great stylists take my hair color to a whole new level! (This was also the show that I had ice grey locs for, and was featured on Behind The Chair’s website and various magazines, hehe!) Anyways, so back in January, I was still in my new mommy phase and scared to try anything new with LIFE, even moreso my hair, but I trusted my Matrix family and we rocked out with some bangin’ Bayalage and I came back this past weekend and took it even further!!!
summersolsticeI love the both of these colors, they fit right into the seasons and I can match up my hair color with various palettes for my makeup and clothing! Being a new mom I kinda aged myself into thinking that I couldn’t do wonderful things like color my hair ORANGE and wear it big and curly, but between the amazing stylists Dan CsiCsai, Chrystopher Benson, and Canadian stylist Caroline Robitaille (who is also a fellow redhead and gives great Mom advice), I came out of my shell! In my next post, I’ll give some insight in how I’m maintaining my color (and texture) and what products I’m using. Stay tuned!

BECCA Foundation Write-up!

Hello all!

So first, WELCOME! Thank you for taking the time to come and check out my blog! I finally have had some time to sit down and do this review. It is really long overdue because I LOVE this line of products, and I really enjoy their foundations. My friends have been asking me to review it for months, so I’m sorry if it’s wordy!

If you are not familiar with BECCA Cosmetics, you can find them online, at SEPHORA, and at ULTA! They have one of the largest color swatches which is something that I appreciate as a woman of color. As you may or may not know, your makeup bag is an investment. Having your go-to quality foundation is very important, so if you’re alarmed by BECCA Cosmestics’ prices, don’t be. Simply look at it as an investment and something in your cosmetic arsenal that is going to last! 🙂

I was first introduced to this foundation in January of this year by an MUA by the name of Artemis (IG: @akstephens5)! If you don’t follow me on my other social media handles, I am a hair model and find myself modeling for MATRIX a few times out of the year and meeting some awesome artists! However, she and another MUA Danielle (IG: @damnhell), will always stick out because they pay attention to their CANVAS…which is me, lol, the model! It’s hard to come across make-up artists who take their craft seriously these days and actually leave their muses with something to go home with. Ya know? So let’s get to it!

of course this was the before! Before hair, makeup…COFFEE!

post show, so not a fair picture of this amazing foundation!

Okay perfect! This is BECCA Cafe, with their Rose Gold highlight! I took this picture on my iPhone with no filter and it was FIVE hours post show. Look at that flawless finish!

after a long day of rehearsals, shows, life, getting lost, being hungry, and losing my shoes AND hotel key, LOOK AT MY FACE. Come through, BECCA!!! Flawless finish!

and here is a picture of the initial application of just foundation under the MUA’s lighting

Now let’s get down to the details:

  1. If you have really dry skin, the BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Creme may not work for you if you’re not priming or using a moisturizer with it. I know Makeup Alley has a lot of reviews from women with dry skin who talk about the oxidation and how the application looks and feels over time. I personally have combination skin, so I know my trouble areas and am always sure to moisturize or use primer before I apply my foundation.
  2. Matching is very important. If you need a general idea you can totally go on their website and get it. Remember their swatch is the truth. There’s something for everyone! If you go in-store, make sure you are under a good and honest light and in front of a good mirror. Major key.
  3. Yes, you may have to touch up with blotching paper or a brush after a few hours. That’s me keeping it real! The Summer season is approaching and the Sun will have you melting.
  4. Undereye coverage is AWESOME. Kid you not. You won’t even have to go the extra mile with using cover-ups and all of that before application.
  5. You can use a beauty blender or a stippling brush! Everything else that I have tried with this foundation has left a weird streak and texture on the ending result.

Other than that, ENJOY! If you need recommendations on makeup removers, and cleansing routines, please feel free to find me on social media or comment below!
